چکیده
I define a generalization of linear indexed grammars that is equivalent to simple context-free tree grammars in the same way that linear indexed grammars are equivalent to tree-adjoining grammars.

Multidimensional trees and a Chomsky-Schützenberger-Weir representation theorem for simple context-free tree grammars
Weir [43] proved a Chomsky-Schützenberger-like representation theorem for the string languages of tree-adjoining grammars, where the Dyck language Dn in the Chomsky-Schützenberger characterization is replaced by the intersection D2n ∩ g(D2n), where g is a certain bijection on the alphabet consisting of 2n pairs of brackets. This paper presents a generalization of this theorem to the string lang...
متن کاملRelating Tabular Parsing Algorithms for Lig and Tag
Tree Adjoining Grammars (TAG) and Linear Indexed Grammars (LIG) are extensions of Context Free Grammars that generate the class of Tree Adjoining Languages. Taking advantage of this property, and providing a method for translating a TAG into a LIG, we define several parsing algorithms for TAG on the basis of their equivalent LIG parsers. We also explore why some practical optimizations for TAG ...
متن کاملMulti-Component Tree Insertion Grammars
In this paper we introduce a new mildly context sensitive formalism called Multi-Component Tree Insertion Grammar. This formalism is a generalization of Tree Insertion Grammars in the same sense that Multi-Component Tree Adjoining Grammars is a generalization of Tree Adjoining Grammars. We show that this class of grammatical formalisms is equivalent to Multi-Component Tree Adjoining Grammars, a...
متن کاملContext-Free Grammars with Storage
Context-free S grammars are introduced, for arbitrary (storage) type S, as a uniform framework for recursion-based grammars, automata, and transducers, viewed as programs. To each occurrence of a nonterminal of a context-free S grammar an object of type S is associated, that can be acted upon by tests and operations, as indicated in the rules of the grammar. Taking particular storage types give...
متن کاملCombinatory Categorial Grammars: Generative Power and Relationship to Linear Context-Free Rewriting Systems
Recent results have established that there is a family of languages that is exactly the class of languages generated by three independently developed grammar formalisms: Tree Adjoining Grammm~, Head Grammars, and Linear Indexed Grammars. In this paper we show that Combinatory Categorial Grammars also generates the same class of languages. We discuss the slruclm'al descriptions produced by Combi...
